Plot
It’s 1946, and it’s time to celebrate the end of World War II with the newlyweds Chuck and Ruthie. They’ve invited their friends and family to a party—but who asked that crazy spiritualist Madam Marplati? Nobody believes that the old biddy can really summon a spirit until the blithe spirit of Elva, Chuck’s first wife, shows up and claims she was murdered in this very room, just a few months ago. And strangely, the same people were here then as are here now. Madam—now Miss—Marplati turns out to be quite a detective, as she uses her gentle but wacky skills to figure out whodunit. Did Chuck kill his wife for the insurance money? Did Ruthie kill Elva to get Chuck for herself? What about Chuck’s nearest relatives, the eccentric doctors Meredith and Laverne? Or the overly-friendly waiter Florian? Or maybe, just maybe, Miss Marplati did it herself—who knows? An even more important question is: will the murderer strike again?
